Special characters in Faster Payment references are HTML-escaped


When sending a Faster Payment from Starling to another bank, here’s how an ampersand ends up looking on the recipient’s side:

I’ve checked with the receiving bank and it’s not their fault (in fact they give access to the raw Faster Payments message in their API and it’s mangled in there as well). Looks like Starling is HTML-escaping the reference before sending for some reason…
