Don’t know if anyone from Starling has noticed but if you search for “Starling Bank” on Google, the two paid adverts that appear first and second in the search results are for Monese and Amaiz. This would suggest that both of these companies are using Starling’s brand name in their PPC keywords, which isn’t against Google’s terms. It is interesting though to see how the competition try to attract customers. (Monese also target the phrase “Monzo Bank”.)
Considering the fees they charge, I can only imagine that the target audience for Monese is people without an address or with bad or no credit history. It seems like a waste of money paying for people clicking through to your site when they were originally looking for Starling. I understand why some companies target their competitors keywords but in this case I think it’s a poor decision by their marketing people.
