Forgotten Passcode

So my mum joined Starling recently and for her passcode this evening… she contacted Customer Services, who were extremely helpful as always. My questions is, why do you have to delete the app and go through the whole process to get back in? a simple passcode reset was all that was needed.

And the instructions to get back in were very confusing… I cannot remember exactly what they said now, but it was not clear.
